Take another test in a few days.  It would be unlikely, but not impossible.

YES IT IS VERY POSSIBLE THAT YOU ARE MY GOOD FRIEND HAD HER IUD IN FOR ABOUT 2-3 YEARS AND FOUND AT SHE WAS PREGNANT AT ABOUT 8 WEEKS YOU SHOULD TEST AGAIN IN A WEEK

I just recently found out having my IUD in for 4yrs (first was mirena, then i switched to paragard) I went in to have my IUD switched back to Mirena because of the awful periods Paragard was causing me. The did a pregnancy test just for caution sake and i was pregnant. They removed the IUD warned me of the risks and possible complications. I did end up losing the baby after the IUD was removed and now TTC. Have the blood test done, because the urine tests i were doing were coming barely positive, and usually negative. it wasn't until they did the blood test that they knew about how far along i was and what my hCG levels were.

Best of Luck!!!

thanks to everyone, i'm going to call the doctor today and get an appointment to do the blood test, hopefully today or monday.  will keep you all posted...if you do concieve with an iud is the prognosis good for the baby or no?

The risks of being pregnant with an iud are that if you remove it you risk m/c depending on how far along you are. You can leave it in and it will be no worse thand if you had the depo or something in your system while pregnant can cause some fluid retantion in the testicles in boys but that can be drained. If you leave it in then you also risk m/c so it is up to you and the doctor which way you go but it also depends on the positioning of the embryo. If it is low then you may need to take the iud past it. If it is implanted high then the iud should not affect it if removed. Good luck and let us all know how it goes because I have an merina iud and I woulod be interested to know if you were pregnant or not.
