pregnant with IUD

by looziana5, Apr 21, 2005 12:00AM
Hello all,

I'm wanting to know if anyone has had a successful pregnancy after a IUD is removed. After I had my 12 mth old son I had an IUD put in. Then for the last month in a half I had this on going virus...thats what I thought. I decided to take a test, low and behold it was +. Went  to the Dr. she confirmed. She ordered a sonogram since I had no clue when my last period was. Thats when it all happened.....not only was the baby where it was suppose to be...THERE IS TWO OF THEM!!!! Shocked the hell out of me. i started crying, my husband said, "WOW".

Know I have to get the IUD removed or risk infection then there will only be a 50/50 chance of them surviving. Then after I get it removed they said that there was still a chance of them not surviving..so my question is has any one expereinced this???

The babies seem to be just fine, great heart beats and all.

Please pray for me as you can tell i am shocked beyond belief.

Thanks

I had an IUD in place when I got pregnant with my first son 25 years ago.  It was removed (I was nearly 16 weeks pregnant when I found out b/c I had continuous bleeding and no symptoms of pregnancy) and the pregnancy proceeded uneventfully.

good luck to you.

Never liked a IUD  I Think its a foreign object and shouldnt be in your body... I wish you the best though.I know someone on here had that same question a while back but she was only pregnant with one. I would ask your doctor what he recommends doing.

A friend of mine got pregnant as well on this.  Her baby ended up being just fine.  I hope the same happens for your baby as well.  Sending you many prayers for a healthy baby.

Thank you all for the support. I'm trying really hard to get excited about this. I feel really bad that people who are wanting and trying to have babies are having so much trouble, and here I am with no plans, not trying...i get two. I'm waiting for the initial shock to leave, then maybe i can get into this.

Please pray for my strength as i will continue to pray for you all.

Thanks

Yes, i recently found out i was pregnant with the copper T IUD after three years. i had a normal period about a month ago i began having unusual spotting which was common with my iud approx 5 days ago on the 6th day i had severe blood loss and cramping many of my periods were very heavy after i had the iud put in place but i kept thinking that a heavy period is a small price for not becoming pregnant so i kept it in regardless. i had a history of being very fertile i had been pregnant on many different forms of birth control, diff kinds of the pill, the morning after pill, condom use, everything failed. dr's questioned me at a young age wondering if i missed pills or didnt take them properly or was careless. it was never the case. after a bunch of pregnancies including 2 miscarriages one ectopic pregnancy and 5 abortions and 2 children. i wanted to have my tubes tied and since i was under 30 they didnt want to do it. my dr knew my history and knew i was pretty much forced into motherhood and felt robbed of having a supportive partner and fairy tale relationship. i never wanted any children to be honest. i did what i could to avoid it from happening. so after my last abortion the dr put in the iud. told me it was 99.99% effective for 5 yrs. so here i am 3 yrs later at the hospital. the on call dr had no idea what to think of the severe bleeding and took a look and seen the iud was in the right place still. the ob/gyn came after 9 hours at the hospital and asked if ive had a urine test. it came back positive. he said the iud will have to come out and that the pregnancy would terminate itself and i was to be sent home to have a miscarriage. 6 days later (today) i went to the dr and had a pregnancy test it was positive still. i havent had any bleeding since the iud was taken out. i was told the last time i had an abortion that they wouldnt do anymore it would be too dangerous to my health. so here i sit pregnant again when i did what i could to prevent it. i feel horrible that millions of women cry themselves to sleep at night praying and hoping to become pregnant. and ive done everything but abstinence. its just not fair.

its highly possible to have it removed and still have a successful pregnancy. My SIL got pregnant with the IUD and now her daughter is two years old. You do need to get it removed immediately though! dont wait another second! how far along are you?

i am very sorry to hear of what is happening to you but as they say you made your bed now lay in it.  as a father of two and after helping my wife through one failed pregnancy i cant help but think how selfish you are you talk about your sorrow for these women who cry themselves to sleep yet you have ended five lives that could have made 5 families very happy.  i wont call you heartless just too selfish to be a compassionate person.  i hope that there is something during this pregnancy that causes the doctors to tie your tubes because you dont deserve to be a parent.

this post is over a year old.
Its kinda scarey though because im getting an IUD instead of getting my tubes tied and I really dont want anymore (at the moment, lol). I cant imagine getting pregnant, I guess if its meant to be it will be.
