prenatal vitamins and nausia

I hardly ever have an appetite, and when i go to take my prenatal vitamins, i get sick just thinking about it, so i have skipped quite a few days. i dont hardly eat and have lost 4 lbs. I am constantly thirsty! any ideas on how to get back on track or any foods that may appeal better to meal. I love eating those cheep ramon noodles and drinking the broth! most of the time when i am hungry for somthing i am at work and dont have access to it.
another ?- i know i posted this before, but i worded it different. my question now is had anybody ever heard the hearbeat at or before 9 weeks 6 days? (on fetal doppler at office) i think with dd it was 10 weeks, but i always thought that was the earliest.
thanks gals!

Have you tried taking your prenatels at night?  Anything you can do to try to get them down is a good thing for your baby.  How far along are you?  Can you stomach milk, because if you can get a Carnation Instant Breakfast or even an ensure or slim fast shake to help you get some extra calories.  Is there any kind of snack you can take to work to help you be able to eat when you are hungry?  If it gets to the point where you just don't think you are getting enough and you are worried, you may need to consider some medication to help with the nausea.  Ask your doctor about VitaminB6 and of course try ginger ale and peppermint tea.  If you can stomach them.  It may help with the sickness.  Sometimes cold foods are easier to stomach.  I always loved to eat Subway turkey sandwiches.  Also I find that cheese appeals to me when I am feeling real sick, but everyone is different.  Even if you have to eat ice cream all day until you can get back to better meals.  Something is better than nothing!  I never heard the heartbeat earlier than ten weeks, but I don't know about others.  Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon!

thanks hun! i am 9 weeks and almost 4 days. i do drink slim fast as well because of the amount of vitamins. i might try some carnation instant breakfast as i can hnadle that stuff. milk is not a problem for me. ensure on the other hand... yeah thats just asking for vomit! (for me) and about the cheese, i eat that probalbly more than the noodles honostly! i never did have nausea with dd and neither one of my sister had any with any of their pg. one has 3 and the other has 2. and they each have at least one of each. thanks for the reply!

I lost 15+ lbs. my first trimester each pregnancy, even my m/c at 11 weeks.  My Dr. did tell me that if I couldn't handle the regular prenatals, to try children's chewables for a little while till it got better.  I still took my prenatals, but took them after I was able to get a little food in my tummy.  I was sick most of the time, but even more at night, so I took mine in the morning.  I have heard so many gals take it at night and find it easier.  I loved Ramen noodles too, do what you have to until you feel better.  As for hte doppler, my first one my DH went in to the Dr. for his gout and the Dr. thought it would be fun to try at 10 weeks 2 days, but warned it was pretty early.  They did not get it then, and my OB never tried before 16 weeks anytime.  Hope you feel better soon and congrats!

yeah funny thing was with dd, i heard it at 10 weeks but not at 14 weeks, but again at 18 weeks. they say it is not uncommon if you dont here it, especially ealry on. Thats awesome that you got some extra prenatal care when dh when in for himself...lol actually i think its kinda funny! my docter would be the same way tho in any cirumstance like that shes a pretty neat lady!

I used to take them in the morning and also had a terrible morning sickness (that lasted all day long).  I would throw up (sorry if TMI) and the vitamin as well.  My sister suggested taking it right before I go to bed so I did and it helped a lot.

Why don't you try taking gummy vitamins? I was having a similar problem and my OB suggested them. They work great for me. Good luck :)

what kind of vitamins are they?  the ones the doctor prescribed to me i couldn't take so i just got some from walmart.  i couldn't take them in the morning either so i also took mine at night before bed.  also, once you're out of your first trimester you will be able to stomach them better.  in the first trimester of my last pregnancy i took my oldest daughter's flinstone vitamins but once i was over the sick phase i took my regular ones.

Just like sweetsteph, I too had to take Flinstones b/c my prenatals made me sick.  However, my doctor did put me on Folgard (higher dose of folic acid only) along with the 2 Flinstones a day.  Hope that helps you and you feel better!
