priceless.. I feel so old

ok .. so as most of you know I work every weekend 12 hour shifts, my DH takes DD to church every sunday, and then she goes to sunday school and he picks her up afterwards. Well I call home today and Dominique answered the phone and it was your typical hi hunny how was church etc.. she said mom, Kathleen was not there today so I didnt have sunday school, I helped in the kitchen with coffee etc.. so i asked her why didnt you call gary to pick you up early? her reply? MOM!! they have those phones with the big round circles,( rotary)  I dont know how to use them.. I about fell off my chair, it never occured to me until just then that my 10 year old has never used, or seen before going to this church a rotary phone.. I thought that was funny!!!

Thats so cute and funny! It reminds me of once when I was telling my daughter that when I was a kid, there was no such thing as C.D's. She said, "Oh yeah--you just had those really big black C.D's, huh?" (meaning 33' records!!!!!)
I got a good chuckle out of that!!

We had rotary phones when I was growing up. We only got "regular phones when I was about 14. I also had a black and white tv when I was young which most people find amazing. Cute story! :)

When my son was about 11, one of his friends father's band made a record in a recording studio.  He was telling us about it in the car and told us that his friend brought it to school to play for the class on one of those "big black CDs!!!"  He was talking about an album.  You know, from the 1970s.  He did not have that word in his vocab....  Ugh!

I grew up using my grandma's rotary phone...and she had a "party line" Anyone remember what those were? I do and it was lame!!

I have a closet stash of not only 33's, but also some really awesome 45s like Elvis, Chubby Checker, and even Peter Pan!!

Just the fact I keep telling my kids "When I was a kid..." or even while talking to the HS kids during swimming and saying the same thing...c-r-a-p how did 30 get to be so old?

We put our records away in storage but we had Michael Jackson's thriller, you know when he looked like a human being....lol.  I had a bunch of cassettes.  I know, my fiance's kids don't really know what a vcr was.  Nor did they not understand the concept of not having cell phones or what car phones were.  I to feel old at 31.

I have Thriller!! I also have Styx, Lionel Richie (you know, Nicole's dad), and Pink Floyd  "The Wall" all on vinyl.

I also have some cassettes in a box. In fact I have some Raffi and Wiggles on cassette from when Jonathan was a baby.

The best is the 8-tracks I have somewhere.

No, 30 is not old to me...but it is to the kids. Remember when 30 was old?

I have Lionel Richie also.  I also have like every soundtrack to every movie.  I have also from when I was a kid, Lady and the Tramp record.  Oh and it's a small world, that song torments me now even when we go to Disney World...lol.

I do remember when 30 was old but that's when we were young, now it doesn't seem old at all.  I also remember when there were no such thing as remote control and every time you wanted to change the channel you would have to get up.  Or how about when there was actually a cut off time (midnight), when there were no more tv programs and it would show the american flag and the national anthem would play.  Then no more tv after that, now you can stay up all night long watching something.

I have Pink Floyd, the Wall, on 8-TRACK!  Still!  HA!  I beat you ALL!  Well, I am 44, so there ya have it!  I have a few cassettes....  Our Lips Are Sealed - Lalalalalalala, Our Lips Are Sealed....  Vay-cay-shun - HAVE to get away!  

I knew almost the whole Thriller group dance part by heart!  

And I STILL have it for Rick Springfield.  My girlfriend from High School married the blonde lead singer to Air Supply.

Grammy - you and I are nearly the same age (45) and boy did your post bring back some memories!  Disco, baby, disco!!  Remember when Grease came out when we were in our tween years - Saturday Night Fever (that was my first record)??  Donna Summers, Olivia Newton-John (pre-Physical), Hall & Oates to say a few - my roommate and I used to jam to "Your Kiss Is on my List" - remember that one??  Heck this one song which is the silliest one ever sticks out in my mind:  "Ring My Bell".  Gosh, now I can think of dozens of songs, different stuff!

My kiddos laugh like crazy when I talk about the 8-track tapes & when I show them mine - yes I still have it - they just go wild - weirdos.  I tell them, "Just wait, hon, it'll happen to you too.".
