progesterone level question

by sbeaver, Dec 07, 2005 12:00AM
i keep hearing about miscarriages happening because of low progesterone. i had my 1st miscarriage and i know thats not uncommon.  what would be a low progesterone level during pregnancy?  i had mine tested 8 days after ovulation (not during pregnancy)and it was 25.4 nmol/l, which is in normal range.  does level before pregnancy have any indication of what levels would be like during pregnancy? or can levels not go up enough during pregnancy even though its normal before pregnancy? what is procedure for testing levels during pregnancy and when do you test?

In early pregnancy, they like to see progesterone at no less than 15. With my ectopic, my progesterone was only 4- VERY low.

I had a miscarriage when my prog was at 20 during the pregnancy. I am pregnant again and they tested it at 4.5 weeks and again at 5.1weeks. It was 29.5 the first time and 32.5 the second. I would assume they would check your progesterone really early the next time you get pregnant so they can put you on supplements if you need them.
