progesterone question....

progesterone question....

HI Ladies, I am 5w6d today, My Re; Put me on progesterone suppos. 100mg, 2x a day on saturday. I have had 2 missed M/C, in the last year, and am really nervous about about this pregnancy. My question is I read somewhere that if you have a m/c and or a missed m/c, that the progesterone will keep you from bleeding, so i wont know if i am m/c or not, my first m/c the baby died @ 7w2d, but i didnt have a m/c untill i was 12 w,(did u/s at 10w) but i did have some spotting, so i kinda new, but was still hoping, the 2nd m/c i was 8w when we did the u/s, we saw a heart beat on that one, and i saw pink 4 days later, and it was confirmed it had died to:( I had a dnc that time.
So will the progesterone keep me from spotting if the baby dies again? That was my only clue that something was wrong. Thanks Ladies, you are all so helpfull and im glad i found this site.
btw, my first u/s will be done a 7w to make sure things are going ok, then agin at 8w. So i will keep you all posted. Thanks again

i had a missed miscarriage too...almost exactly like you described your first one.

my doc put me on progesterone when i got preg again, and all went fine. i'd swear it was the progesterone that kept me pregnant.

the progesterone can delay spotting or a period, but it won't stop it, plus your doc should monitor you frequently. try not to worry. no use borrowing trouble, yah know?

sticky baby dust to you!! :)

I had one m/c while using progesterone suppositories. They will not stop you from m/c if the pregnancy is hopeless. They will stop you from m/c if your own body is not producing enough progesterone on it's own to sustain an otherwise healthy pregnancy. Thanks to progesterone, I have a healthy 3 year old, and am 25 weeks with baby #2.

I had a m/c while on progesterone shots (i.e., plenty of progesterone) and bled when I miscarried, so that statement about progesterone keeping you from bleeding is not accurate at least in every case.

Hi everyone...i am all new to this.......so any way, i have been ttc now for a little over 6 years.....yes, sadly i have never been prenant yet, but i have recently been going to see a really good fertility specialist in Pittsburgh, Pa, and i am on my first cycle of medications that has worked for me to make me ovulate,,,,i go two days from now for a blood pregnancy test, which i think will be GREAT news.....the reason being is that i took a hpt a week ago and it was negative, which i knew it was too early , but i just was too eager to take one anyway, well, now i took another one this morning and it was POSITIVE!  i really think  i may finally be pregnant!(at least i sure hope so), but also, i am on progesterone suppositories and just wanted to say, they are to help your lining of your uterus stay thick enough to carry the fertilized egg for three months after the pregnancy til something else then takes over to do this job.........well, wish the best for everyone.....and now just waiting til monday to confirm my good results!:)
