progesterone suppositories?

I am preparing to try to conceive again after 2 miscarriages.  My doctor has just prescribed progesterone suppositories for me as a precaution, to begin using as soon as I ovulate.  Do any of you know what the side effects of this drug will be?  Also, if I do get pregnant again and the fetus is not viable will the expelling of tissue be delayed or impacted because of this drug?  Also, for any of you who also chart your temperatures...I know that progesterone raises your temps.   I always know when I am going to get my period because my temp always drops significantly that day when the bleeding is going to start.  If I'm on progesterone and I do not conceive, will my temp still drop?  And will my period still come on time if I'm taking this drug?  And if my period does come, do I keep taking the medicine, or do I stop until close to my next ovulation?

And one final question.....I've never used a suppository, it sounds rather gross.  For any of you who have used this form of progesterone....is it messy?  Does stuff leak out all day?  And most importantly....does it interfere with "doing the deed"?

I can't answer all of your questions on suppositories, but I took them for my this my first successful pregnancy, my little girl is 2 weeks old now, I have previously had 3 failed ones before.
The doctor recommended I take them as soon as knew I was pregnant, with regards to it being messy, it isn't the nicest thing to have to do, but I never had any leakage as such once it was up there, I did have a slight side effect of when I needed the toilet (a number 2) boy did I know about it! It would hurt sometimes if I couldn't get to the toilet straight away and held it in, just something to note there incase you get caught short!

Ps. with regards to interfering with "doing the deed" it shouldn't affect that at all!

Yeh, I had to use them after embryo transfer with IVF it just gives you a helping hand in keeping the pregnancy going. They are a bit messy and leak a bit as they melt be I used a very small tampon for a few hours after each one. They don't interfere with "the deed" cos they melt after a little while. It's not the greatest thing in the world but hey if they work it's worth it.

I take progesterone at night right before bedtime.  Sometimes, I ask my husband to help me insert it as I lay in bed.  Other times, I insert it in the washroom and quickly wash my hand before jumping into bed.  However, I see it in my urine when I go to the washroom in the morning.  If you are doing the suppositories during the day, you should wear a pantyliner in case any of it falls out.

I usually have a blood pregnancy test about 14 days after ovulation.  Once I find out that I'm not pregnant, I stop taking progesterone and my period starts.

All these should be confirmed with your doctor.

I was started on progesterone as well during the luteal phase of my cycle (this after one miscarriage and a year of no luck conceiving). I take it rectally (as it tends to stay in better and is likely absorbed best, according to some literature). My advice is to carry the suppository (not in your pocket as it will melt) until you have your dailly BM - this will lessen the likelihood of it coming out and being messy. I never had any leakage or pain. Anyway, the surprising news with this was that I got pregnant the minute my doc put me on the progesterone. Even more surprising was that it was twins! I am a week away from 3 months so our fingers are still crossed but the pregnancy is going VERY well and both babies are growing well. I am convinced my progesterone levels were low and that is why I miscarried at 2 months the last time. It seems to be all I needed to properly support the early stages of this pregnancy and I will stop taking it when I reach 12 weeks.
