How much do you typically get when you pump? I just pumped both sides and got only a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys over 4 ounces. Maybe this is why my dd is not satisfied. My friend said she could get 4 ounces out of each side.
Don't worry about 4 ounces when you pump -- babies are better at getting the milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal out than even the best pump is. One time (and one time only) I overflowed a 4-ounce bottle when I was pumping and not watching. (I was reading MedHelp and just didn't pay attention to the amount of the milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal that was flowing into the bottle, LOL.) I went through a period of really painfulPainful menstrual periods nipples and so was pumping all the time, and was getting maybe 4 ounces from one side and 2 ounces from the other. But now if I pump, I get maybe 4 ounces total. This is because the baby is drinking directly most of the time, and so there isn't that much left to get out of the breast when I do pump. Your best bet to be sure your dd is satisfied is just to let her suck, suck, suck. That will prompt your milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal supply to increase. Also, if you are interested in trying it, I had good results with fenugreek capsules, Mothers Milk tea, and some other herbals. Good luck!
I dont think thats bad at all. Its different for everyone.
Try pumping on one side while she is feeding on the other side, you will get more this way cause let down is hard at work. Its kinda a juggling act but it works.
how old is dd? how long have you been pumping?
i have been pumping exclusively (sigh... still no bf-ing success) and for some reason my supply has always met her needs. she is now 7 weeks, and eats 3-4 oz every 2-3 hours. i just make sure to pump after every feed to keep my supply up. if it's been only 2 hours, i generally get about 4 oz. if it's been 3 hours i will get 5-6 oz. hopefully, my supply will continue to gradually increase as she gets older. when she only ate 2 oz, i would get 2-3 oz pumping, when she was eating 3, i would get 3-4, and so on... but it requires a lot of work to keep the supply up.
