question about beta hcg

Mf friend is aprox. 7 weeks pregnant. She started spotting so her doctor checked her beta hcg levels twice within 48 hrs. The first number came back at 56,000, 48 hrs later it was at 76,000. Her doctor said this is fine. I have always thought they should double every 48 hrs? Her doctor doesn't want to see her until 2 weeks and then he said he'll do an ultrasound and not to worry. Any hope he's right?

Early on is when it doubles every 48 to 72 hours, but later on it slows down to around every 96 hours..  It think she is probably alright.  Dr are usually pretty up front if they think things aren't progressing as they should.

After about six weeks, it no longer doubles every day.  Her numbers look good, and indicate a viable pregnancy.  BUT, with spotting, there is still a chance things could go wrong.  She isn't out of the woods just yet.

She's fine, she  had ultrasound. She's 9 weeks and everything looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
