question about c-section scar

by Adevotee, Dec 12, 2006 12:00AM
I had my son via c-section January 2003. I am now 36 weeks 5 days with baby #2. I have been experiencing major pain in my incision scar (inside) when the baby bumps it. It brings me to tears.

I have an OB appt tomorrow and am going to make sure that I mention this to my OB. He is supposed to be checking my cervix to see if I am starting to dilate, if I am, he has said that he will break my water. I am unsure if that is a good idea now. I don't want to go through labor if my incision scar is being REALLY stretched.

Is this normal?? Should I be overly concerned about it??

Bringing you to tears sounds major.  They might not want you to try a VBAC if you're in so much pain.  I know you're really wanting that, though.  :-(

I have had three c-sections and I am going to have my 4th in April.  I think that is normal, I actually have been feeling the same thing.  The doctor told me that it was from the scar tissue.

Yes scar tissue can cause great discomfort. Tell your doctor so he can check for possible infection, but most likley everything will be OK. Good luck, I know you will do just fine either way!!

Thanks everyone!!

I am really hoping that I can try for a VBAC but if I can't then that is ok too. As long as this baby and I are healthy, then it doesn't matter how he/she got here.

I will update when I get back from my appt tomorrow, hopefully. If I can't (due to having my water broke) :), I will post a birth story asap.
