Dear Kittymommy, I Think you've mentionned that you had 2 miscariages before. I had one too (last June) and I was wondering what was the reason why you miscarried. I have been trying to get pregnant for a year. I'm also taking Clomid 100mg. thanks

I'm sorry for your loss.  How old are you?  Do you have any children yet?  Yes, I've had two miscarriages.  The first one in July 04 was very early, only about 5.5 weeks and I never found out the reason.  With the 2nd miscarriage, the baby had apparently stopped developing at about 7 weeks.  I did not miscarry naturally and had to have a D&C at 12 weeks.  With the D&C I opted to have the fetal tissue tested, and it was found that the baby had a chromosome defect which is not conducive to life, Trisomy 2 to be exact.  This type of chromosomal defect is related to advanced maternal age.  I'm 35, I have no children.  I'm very sorry for your loss, I can completely appreciate how devastating it is.  The 2nd time it happens it's even worse, because you're just thinking, God cannot possibly do this to me again.  I was not diagnosed with a progesterone deficiency, but my doctor has prescribed it just as a precaution.  She said that with my history of miscarriages, it can't hurt and it might help.  This is the first cycle that I'm using it.  Do you have regular cycles and do you know when you ovulate?  I use the basal body temp method, and it has worked for me at least to conceive.  Good luck to you!

Hi girls  Im sort of budding in here, Keep your chin up many of us had miscarriages including myself, and go on to have children I have 3. What I was told (by doctor) that a miscarriage is natures way of saying that something was wrong with it.(chromosome mix up)v  Not that it helps, It is such a emotional, devistating time in a women's life.

Best of Luck

And age doesnt really matter I just had my baby 4.5  months ago at 37 (I know there is some risk but many have had them )

Thanks a lot for your response and the detailled explanation. I'm very sorry for your losses and for what you had to go throught.
I'm 25 years old, and don't have any any children yet. I have never a had regular cycles. I had tried to get pregnant for 6 months beofre i conceived naturally at the end of April 04. My husband and I had seen the the heart beat at the 5th week, then went on a trip to Orlando, FL (Lots of walking). When I came back I had a light bleeding and went to see my Dr and did an ultrasound where they found out that the baby had stopped developing at about 7 weeks. I did not miscarry naturally neither and had to have a D&C right away. I went to see an Endocrinologist and found out that I have a polysistic ovarian syndrom (syndrome). both my genycologist and the Endocrinologist agreed that i needed to take METFORMIN (Glucophage)to lower my insulin level ( I have been taking it for 3 months now). They also prescribed Clomid 50mg (first 2 months) and increased the dose to 100mg last month. I started usign the ovulation strips this months and haven't had a positive one yet (I'm on the 13th day of my cycle).
My husband went for a sperm count as well last Friday but still waiting for the results; Although I'm almost positive that the problem is me not him.
good luck to all of us who want to have babies and God bless.

Have ever taken Clomid before? Can you ovulate naturally? and do you have regular cycles?
Do you think it's worth to take Clomid? I read about it's side effects...no good in long run.
good luck to everyone

I'm so sorry to hear the details of your loss.  It is truly so devastating.  Yes, fortunately I do have regular cycles and I do ovulate regularly, usually day 16 of my cycle.  We've been married for 8 years, but just decided last April to start a family.  I went off the pill in April and conceived in May without any trouble.  Then the second time, I once again conceived right away.  I know that I am very fortunate that conception doesn't seem to be my problem, my issue is more likely related to the age and/or quality of my eggs.  And I know that lots of ladies out there older than me have had healthy babies, I'm hoping that my turn will come.  We are trying again right now, but I think my husband I both agree that if it happens again, we will probably not continue with our efforts to become parents.  The losses are just too painful.

Coincidentally, I'm interested that you said with your pregnancy last spring you went on vacation and were walking alot, and then discovered that the baby had died.  We conceived sometime in mid May last year, and then went on vacation the 2nd week in June.  We are avid outdoorspeople, and we went hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains in TN for 5 days.  It was a few weeks after that trip that we found out that the baby had died.  I always wondered if it had anything to do with all the hiking and climbing we had done.  Keep using your ovulation test strips, I will cross my fingers that you see a positive soon!

I really whish you the best!! Hopefully it will work this time.
My case is different, We just cannot stop trying. I'm under lot of pressure form both my family and my in-laws. I have been married for 5 years (next week) but i had to finish college first be4 starting a family (I'm graduating this may). For them it's just unnormal to wait 5 years without children. Whenever i call them they ask me if it is happening yet. I'm just too tired of it. I hate to call them. In my culture it's different; family gets involved a lot in those things whish i don't like but i can do nothing about it. We tried to talk to them but...and maybe this is one of the reasons that preventing me to get pregnant easily (pressure)
good luck :o)

there was a girl on here awhile back that tried with Clomid and wasn't able to conceive and then her RE put her on Femara and she conceived the first cycle. You might want to talk to your RE about it.  It's a breast cancer drug, but for some reason helps with ovulation too...You asked me awhile back if I conceived without Clomid (sorry- i just now went back and read your question LOL) Yes. I tried 2 cycles of Clomid + Metformin and it didn't work. (although I ovulated during one of those cycles)... just so happened that I had gone off of the Clomid and decided to stop trying, changed jobs, quit stressing out, went on the South Beach Diet, and decided to focus on myself for awhile(we had decided to wait a year and try IVF if it didn't happen on its own). We got pregnant that first cycle after we decided to quit trying. I'm now just about 17 weeks pregnant... can't explain why it happened, but I'm sure glad it did. It will happen for you too. It's just hard to get pregnant with PCOS. :o) Hang in there!!
