really worried. Please respond immediately

by ekta, Mar 22, 2005 12:00AM
I am really worried. I am experiencing slight pain in my lower abdomen. I can not exactly call it pain. It feels as though something is going on inside. But nothing is possible since I am just 4 days over. Having had 2 miscarriages previously, only ngative thoughts are storming my mind. Please advice. Would bedrest help?
Warm Regards,
Ekta.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant with my 2nd.  I have always had dull pains in my lower abdomen.  I hear over and over that this is very normal.  You have to remember there IS something going on in there!  At these early stages the baby is growing and transforming more than it ever will again in it's life.  Try and not worry too hard.  Take comfort in these small pains, as they are evidence of your babies growth.  I hope this helps.  I can understand how stressful this pregnancy must be for you.  My son was stillborn, and I can relate to the feelings of worry you're going through.  Pregnancy for people like you and me can be very scary and stressfull because we are all too aware on how it feels to lose a baby.  All you can do now is try very hard to relax, if not for your own good, but for your babies.  There are many moments where I can get so scared from the pains I feel in my tummy.  I just take a deep breath, and then I picture what's happening in my body, my baby is growing.  Take care. Love, Mary

I remember spending my whole first trimester terrified that I would miscarry...and every ache, every spot (sorry if TMI), even the size of my boobs freaked me out (one day I was convinced they were shrinking instead of growing and my pregnancy was doomed...isn't that nuts?) Now I'm in my 29th week, and everything is OK. My advice, for what its worth, is first to pray. God is an amazing comforter. Secondly, if you explain your worries to your doctor, they may run some quantitative Hcg titers for you, so that you can watch if your hormone levels are rising or not, which is just about the best indication you can get on how your pregnancy is going until your baby is big enough to see on an ultrasound, or until the baby has a detectable heartbeat. A good friend of mine who lost her first baby found a doctor that did this weekly for the first 9 or 10 weeks, which she found comforting. Other people really stress about numbers and lab values though. Thirdly, this forum is a great place to come for support, no matter what happens with your pregnancy. You can bet someone here is going/has gone through what you are experiencing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Good luck!
