scan

Hi all

dh and i went for our scan yesterday and saw baby again, but the sonographer has put me a week forward again with my dates so officially i am now 16 weeks 3 days, we thought i was only just coming up for 15 weeks. so now this is the furthest i have been in any of my pregnancies!!!
i am feeling baby move alot each day now which is really comforting, the midwife did try to listen to the heartbeat but as baby was squirming alot she couldnt listen for too long, we have another scan in 4 weeks so hopefully then baby will stay still long enough for the heartbeat to be heard.
hope everyone is ok, cmn, i am about as far along as you are?
there was someone else to who is around the same gestation, can't remember who (apologies) but my one decent brain cell thses days is running on overtime!!! can't believe how forgetful i am at times!!!

That is great news!!!  I will be 16 weeks tomorrow so we are really close. I know mmg9603 is also near us. I go for my next appointment tomorrow also.  Did your doctor tell you it was too soon to tell what the sex of the baby is or did you just listen for the heartbeat?  Next time you go hopefully you will be able to find out.  I am not sure if you and DH wanna find out but DH and I can't wait till we know.  

I haven't really felt the baby move much at all, just a few flutters here and there.  I have been taking measurements of my belly on a weekly basis and its funny to see how much its growing.  Have you figured out a theme for your nursery yet?

i dont want to know the sex, but i would like to know how fast the heartbeat is when we go for next scan, i know its an old wives tale but dh used his wedding ring and held it over my belly it swung back and forth not round & round can anyone confirm the old wives tale....does this mean a boy?
as i am craving things like jam on toast & have a cupboard full of sweets which i usually dont eat!
my mum says a girl, but dh and my dad say a boy.

Mmg and CMN are both near us and yes you are due on my birthday so we will see how we all do :).

About the old wives tale, some of my family members swear by it and if it swings back and forth its a boy and if it swings in a circular motion its a girl.  On the internet I have seen old wives tales that say the opposite.  You can test it by going to your mom or anyone that has had children and do the same thing but with a needle and thread instead.  You also do it on the wrist (as opposed to the belly) and depending on how many children they have had and what they were the thread will move.

I hope I didn't confuse you...for instance, my mother just had 2 girls so I tried it on her and the thread moved both times in a circular motion and when I went to do it the 3rd time it STOPPED and didn't move anywhere...weird isn't it :0).

I also did it to my MIL and she had 1 boy then 2 girls...sure enough the fist time it went back and forth then cicular for 2 times then it stopped.  Who knows...lol.

Regarding the cravings...I have been staying away from the sweets and only feel like eating it occasionally.  But give me soome french fries and we are a happy campers :).

I am due on February 13th. Probably will be before that since mine is automatic c-section. Has anyone taken pre-natal aquatic classes??? I am thinking of signing up for exercise and wanted to see what people had to say about them.

Hey how are you?  I have never heard of prenatal aquatic classes but I have heard that pregnancy yoga is great.  Let me know how it goes for you if you sign up.  Isn't your doctors appointment coming up soon?

I'm right there with you, i turned 17 weeks today and feeling pretty good. Did you have much for morning sickness? I go for my next U/S on Sept 9, then i guess i'll see if they add a week or take off a week for my due date. How are things going with you? have you been able to feel the baby yet?

I totally understand you.  Headaches have gotten worse but they are normal since we are in the beginning of our second trimester.  I did some research on it and its due to the fact that our body has now increase the blood volume and because of this we may notice frequent headaches and nose bleeds or stuffy nose.  I have seen all of 3 and its hard because I can't take anything for it.  Then to add to that, my allergies have been acting up and my eyes, nose and throat have all been itchy for the past few days.  I hope it doesn't get worst.

DH and I are supposed to go away down to the shore this weekend but I don't know how the weather will hold out.  Thats nice that you guys are gonna go away.

In response to the wedding ring over your belly. I had several people do that to me, but they did it over the palm of my hand. Everytime time it showed that I was gonna have a little boy, and guess what, that's what it is... If the ring swings back in forth that's supposed to be a boy and in circles is a girl. I have a good friend who swears by the test. I have always heard if you crave sweet food then it's a girl, there could be a little truth to that because so far with this baby I have wanted salty, hot & spicy foods and it's a boy..

Yeppers, my doc's appointment is next Thursday, September 2nd at 10:15. My husband and I are celebrating our 1 year anniversary so we are going away for the weekend after the appointment!!! How have you been? I have been lurking and not talking much, just taking in everything said here!! I have been getting horrible headaches so hopefully they are from the pregnancy and not something else!!!

hi, i think (fingers crossed) the morning sickness has subsided now which is nice as i was being physically sick most days, i have been feeling the baby move for a couple of weeks now, little flutters at first but now definite movement, think i may have a footballer in there!! dh thinks we are having a boy, but i think a girl still. does anyone else find they are getting emotional at times when you would otherwise be quite sane?  i walked into town at work today and as i was walking through the cafeteria area i got v emotional, prob because my mum, dad & 2 younger brothers came to visit us last weekend and i hadnt seen them for 6 months prior to that, as they live 300 miles away. from us, anyway we had lunch in the cafeteria saturday and thinking about it made me really sad, cos i know i cant go round and see them whenever i want i guess, but i was walking through the shopping centre crying and people were looking at me as if to say whats her problem, quite embarrasing, but i didnt care at the time!! im glad no one stopped me though, can you imagine someone asking what was wrong and me saying i missed my family!!!

Don't feel bad about being emotional. I was watching the olympics the other night and cried when the national anthem was played for Carly Patterson!!! I guess being emotional is just the pregnant woman's ways. I am 15.5 weeks pregnant! Almost in my 5th month. How far along are you?

im 16 weeks 3 days at the moment and loving every minute of this pregnancy, i aim to enjoy every bit as i feel i can finally relax now after this last scan
have you felt any movement yet? i have an athlete of some kind growing inside me i think!

I think I have been feeling movement. We tried the flashlight test and I definitely felt the little one move away from the light!!! I have some lower abdomen pulling right now. Probably stretching!!! Are you going to find out what it is??

i am really not bothered about the sex, as long as baby is healthy, i have a feeling is a girl, i would prefer a girl for dh but only as he has 2 sons from a previous marriage and i would like him to experience the opposite sex, but for me personally i really don't mind, i don't think docs are as keen over here to disclose the sex when it is a first baby. do you want to know the sex?
