scarring on cervix

scarring on cervix

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant.  So far no luck, only been trying for about 6 months.  Recently had a pap smear, and need to have a repeat.  I have a lot of scarring on my cervix from laser surgery I had 16 years ago to get rid of some pre-cancerous cells found on my cervix.  My question is, could this be the problem we are not getting pregnant?  Is there something I should do to help us?

I had a lot of scarring from the same surgery.  I had no problem getting pregnant.  (Three pregnancies all within first month of trying.)  However, the scar tissue did act as a rubber band to slow my dilation during labor.  It was a good thing though because I had preterm labor and it kept me from giving birth too early.  Good luck!

They usually say if you have tried to get pregnant for over a year then seek out medical help.  The cervix I wouldnt think would matter too much for scaring  it would be the uterus more so that would give you a problem .
Anyways have fun trying!!!!  p.s. sometimes trying too hard stress you out  and it seems it takes longer to get pregnant.(this is what alot of us have found)
Relax, forget about it, and have fun

Just found out today after 4 years trying to get preg that the scarring as stopped me getting preg.  The poor sperm could not get to my uterus.  The scar tissue had closed my cervix.  This was also from loop operation 5 years ago.  Have it looked at!  Dont waste years and lots of tears.

I am so glad you posted that. My Dr. thinks that is what is happening with me too. I have scar tissue due to a Leep procedure 5 yrs ago.  What did your Dr. suggest?  Mine says he can dilate my cervix next month to try and open it for the sperm.

Just wondering what the dr's told you they could do about the scar tissue. I had an HSG on Thursday and it took her 20 minutes just to get into my cervix. Very painful! She said she thought the scar tissue could be hindering us from getting pregnant. I had the leep procedure in 2000. I am waiting to find out the results from my doctor. Of course, I am impatient and want to know now!
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
