secondary amenorrhea? how long on Provera should my af return to normal?

Hi, I stopped bc in aug of 05, did not have a period for 7 months. went to doc she put me on Provera to have a period. my question is how long do i have to take Provera before my period becomes normal again and also what is the longest anyone has gone without having a period after stopping bc? thanks

I went off the pill in May (06) and I haven't had my period yet.  I too took provera and it still didn't start.  All my levels are normal evidently, and I am going to the doc tomorrow.  I'll let you know what she says.  When I took the provera she said that not to be worried because it can take up to a year to get regulated, and that if I didn't have my AF 2 weeks after my last pill to call.  So that is where I am at in all of this.  It sounds like if your provera works, all is fine.  If not, welcome to my world:)  Lots of testing lies ahead I believe for me, so I hope you are just fine.  Good luck and keep me posted.
