sesame seeds and pregnancy

by Love143, Dec 29, 2004 12:00AM
i am really scared. i am currently 9 weeks and a day. yesterday i ate about 5 sesame seed balls coated with honey. kinda indian sweet. then mum said sesame seeds are used to abort pregnancies.

i searched on google, there was a page about it. i am really scared. i am never ever going to  eat it again. just to put my mind at rest, has any of the mums ate those seeds and still had a healthy baby?? pls help me. any thoughts would be helpful.

I have never even heard of that and I have had two healthy babies. It's never been on the list of foods my doctor gave me to avoid. I would say don't WORRY. Relax. I would imagine you'd have to eat an awful lot for soemthing bad to hapen. Als---- there are sesame seeds on hamburger buns and I had TONS of those when I was pregnant. :)

I agree with carolyn. You would have to eat ALOT of those seeds for it to have any effect on you.We all have eaten sesame seeds at one point or another in our pregnancy's,either from buns or bagels etc. Also, from the sites i've read on google,it has to be mixed with something else for it to be an abortifact,so i would say don't worry.Take care,

From what I've read, it takes large amounts of sesame seeds to have an abortive effect, so you really don't have to worry about having a few seeds.

Don't worry about the seseame seeds!  I have never heard of that and I am a freak about what types of foods you can and can't eat!
Just try and limit or quit the honey.
Enjoy your pregnancy and congrats!!!!
