small size gestation sac

Hi..my last menstrual cycle was on 11 july 2010 ..i was supposed to be 6 weeks 1 day pregnant last monday...i had an abdominal ultrasound and i could only see a gestation sac...the technician did the scan quickly and didn't try to magnify the picture so that we could see an embryo or a yolk sac... i am really worried... is it normal? the measurement of the gestation sac was 1.16 cm....whech meant i was only 5 weeks 2 days pregnant...shall be worried or am i just freaking out..i am supposed to have another abdominal ultrasound in 2 weeks after the first one...it is the first time i get pregnant and i am worried i could have a blighted ovum... i had sore boobs but the soreness decreased 2-3 days ago...pls someone reply...thanks in advance for this wonderful opportunity

I had an abdominal u/s when I was supposed to be 6wks and the tech could find no sac so I had to go to my OB two weeks later for another u/s. At this u/s I found out that I was just 6wks 1day and that the sac was in the uterus and all was well. If you ovulate later than thought it can throw your gestation times off and a abdominal u/s this early in pregnancy is not as accurate as a transvaginal. I would not worry until the next u/s and it is usually done transvaginal.

Its very early yet, and that measurement is barely off.  Things could be much different in 2 weeks.  Hang in there and try not to worry.

thanks a lot for u peekawho and spiritwolf31 ... ur replies made me feel much better.. the doubts were eating me from the inside to the extent that i tried a HPT last night to make sure that i still have HCG hormones lol..it was positive... i hope things go well for everyone who is trying to conceive....may all of us have healthy beautiful babies :)

hii again..i want to update and tell what happened a few days ago..i was supposed to be 7 weeks 6 days LMP when i had my second ultrasound... the sac got bigger but not so much...it measured only 14 mm but this time i was able to see the fetal pole but it was only 6 mm so the dr said i would miscarry this week..i still don't feel pregnant and the feeling went away at about 6 weeks... the dr said that the measurements makes me 6 weeks 2 days pregnant..give or take 4 days...i was optimisetic when i saw the fetal pole cuz i feared having a blighted ovum...but there was no heartbeat....i haven't bleeded or had strong cramps... i sometimes feel stinging pain in my uterus but it goes away in seconds...i have another appointment in 3 days...i might have d&c but i want to make sure things r not right 200% b4 i do it...i am so worried...can anyone give me hope or support to pass this horrible situation :( i want to be a mom badly
