something different! help me with baby name spellings.......

something different! help me with baby name spellings.......

hey ladies-good afternoon! hope everyone is well. i go for my first ultrasound in one hour! i am excited, and also a little apprehensive. we will see what happens! i will inform all of you either later or tommorrow.
.......okay so here's my question, any feedback would be nice. i am already choosing baby names, why/ well, i have alot of down time at work and it keeps me awake! for a boy i am going to use BENJAMIN DANIEL, but i already have 3 boys and they all have "classic" names too. that's why i like that name, it goes with my sons' names. but if i have a girl i would like to use a name that is "way-out" or "different". i love the name JAZLEE, but i want to find a cool way to spell it. here are some of the spelling i made...

JAZLEE
JAZLI
JAZLIE
JAZLEY
JAZLEIGH
JAZLY

what spelling do you think would go with the middle name SANTANNAH?

i know that this has nothing to do with medical stuff, but i thought i'td be fun to get your opinions!

thanx!

what about a hiphened form of one of the spellings that you had....

Here we go:
I am more traditional, so I like "JAZLEY" spelling the best.  But to be honest, I don't quite know how to pronounce it.  Is it "jayz-lee" or "jazz-lee"?

I don't like Santannah at all.  It seems like a weird mixture between Santa and Satan and the band Santanna.

I do like Jazley Sienna though.

Hey, for all of you that are members of just_because, I have posted pictures of my little guy on there.  You can go look at them!!!  I am so proud!  DH takes pictures of him every morning before they go to daycare!

I too think you should go with the easiest spelling. How DO you pronounce it??? I like the idea Jasmine Lee (but Leigh instead) then at home you can call her Jasleigh, and her friends too if she likes it. Santannah seems weird to me too. But it's YOUR baby, just try to keep in mind, she'll have it for the rest of her life and take into consideration her last name too. I could've been Holly Henley---thank goodness my mom thought twice. Nothing wrong with either name, but together not a good idea.  God bless!!!!

Can't help you with the spelling, but I have a very unusal name.  I did not like it when I was a kid, but by middle school I LOVED it.  Still do.  Don't worry about having an unusual name.  It's a pleasure to not be another Jennifer or Brittany.  (No offense to any of you with those names.  I'm not commenting on the names, just on the fact that I like unique names.)

Wow, what a toughy. I agree that while original names are fun, she will be stuck with it the rest of her life. I offer this advice, if you want an unusual first name, giver her a normal middle name or vice versa. That way she can opt to use the "normal" one should she decide to down the road. And with the spelling, be careful. She will grow up frustrated because no one ever spells her name right! I grew up with a last name no one ever got right and it was so unsettling.

And being a hyphenated first name myself, it can be a real PITA! Growing up writing Andrea-Leigh plus an 8 letter last name killed me!! What seems great or trendy now, may not be when your child enters school.

I like some of the more traditional names, but my kids still have a little difference in their names. Jonathan Avery (not a  junior, but my dh's name is John, so Jon for short would be confusing) and Tristan Asa (Asa is dh's grandpa's middle name) they aren't exactly Christopher Michael, but a far cry from Valley Forest (yes I do know a man with that unfortunate name)

It is up to you, but try to think of things from your child's perspective. They will have that name the rest of their life. They will be the one's learning how to spell it as a child, answering to it in class, and building a life with it.

Good luck!

Andrea

I think you shoudl think about how she'll feel in school when she has to give her name.  The weird spellings are really hard on kids.  How about jasmine Lee  (then you can combine to jazzle as you deem fit)  just my humble opinion.

I think jazleigh. Hope all goes well:D

I agree with MGI. I named my 5 mo. old. dd Riley, and I had 101 different spellings. Our last name is kind of long so i didnt want her intire name to be super long. Thats why i stuck with the shortest and most common way to spell it. I figured it will be much easier for her to learn how to write it!! GL, name shopping is fun!!!

I too think the shorter versions are better.  I am also confused as to how to pronounce it.  That is something you might need to think about. She would tire quickly of correcting people her entire life.

I am not that big on the middle name.  It is definately unique.  No doubt about that.  And I am sure that is what you are going for.  At least with it I am sure of how to pronounce it.

I am leaning toward Ashlee Kaelyn if my baby is a girl (U/S is tomorrow.

Best wishes to you.  Let us know what you decide.

This is NOT meant to be rude just MY OWN personal opinion but I do not like either name, however, it is your baby and if you like it I agree with MGI and you should go for the shortest possible spelling.  I guess it is just a different name and I am not big on the diff. names.  Congrats on your pg and good Luck to you.  Let us know what spelling you come up with.

PS what if it is a boy LOL!!!!!!

All My Children has a character named Greenleigh.  I know a couple who just named their little boy Espn (espin).  He is a high school football coach.  I would say that is a bit overboard, come on, ESPN!

Kami as in Kammi? If so, I grew up with 2,lol! One was a twin (Tami & Kami).

I love interesting names, but I have also seen some kids really get tormented. Just something to think about first.

i am just figuring that "it" is a boy, cuz "it" probably is! that's okay tho, i just want a helthy baby. the reason that i was looking at girl names is that it's nice to do something different once in a while. while i like name like elizabeth, anna, ashley and jessica, i just think that if i was lucky enough to have a lil' girl that i would name her something special, so everyone would know that she was my lil' princess and that she is SO special to me. i would not trade my boys for the world, but, i would like to have a daughter to do the "girl-things" with like polish each others' nails, hair-do's, and go clothes shopping for frilly, glittery, poofy, pink things. whatever those are!!!!! you know what i mean. i'd love to change my nursery's theme to like "rosebuds" rather than "racecars". also, i am going to go thru this pregnancy alone because i recently split up with my husband that i have been with for almost 10 years (married since 2001) because he was having 3 affairs behind my back and brought some nasty stuff home to me. some men have no respect. so anyways, we have split up for good now and i think that it would be better for me to have a girl for some reason. so yah, i have alot on my plate right now and i am just trying to occupy myself with things so i do not think too much about the situation at hand.

I also like the Jasmine Leigh idea.  I'm not sure about the Santannah though.   I'm a fan of classic names...not in for trendy. My best friends name is Echo and she never hears the end of it.

i actually surprised myself, i thought by now i'd be ready for the FUNNY FARM. my dumb husband says that these "women" that he has been screwing around with make him feel young and sexy. by the way, he is 34, and i am 24. he like totally forgot about his kids, or that bills and what-not still need to be paid at home. men can be so downright NASTY sometimes.

sorry-had to vent.

thanx for all the feedback. yah, i know that i have to think of baby's future. maybe i'll think of another name. my name is sienna rose and i always have like it. my sister is sahara jade and my brother-matthew thomas! i only have a few other "back-up" names that i am fond of...TAELYNNE (TAY-LIN), KAIYAH (KY-AH),SKYLAR, NOELIA, AND OF COURSE JAZLEIGH (PRONOUNCED JAZZ-LEE)
well, i still have 8 more months to go.

i had an ultrasound yesterday at the ob. i am exactly 4 weeks or so. all that was visible was the yolk-sac and it's like a little black hole with basically nothing in it. i am sceduled to go back in 4 weeks.

msklar:
my due date is supposedly may 31. do you think that you are going to have a girl this time? i already know that this one is a boy, but i am not gonna wish too hard for my lil' princess. if god wants to give me a girl, he will. it's all in his hands.

I'm a Jennifer too.  There were 4 others in my class...  :-)

But I do know a girl that named her daughter "Green".  Anyone know anyone with that name?  I can't wait for her to have more kids to see what their names are!

I love the name Kyah. We have frieds who named their daughter that. I think it is so beautiful. :o) I just had a boy, but if he'd been a girl we would have named him Sierra.. just in case you want to steal that... :o)

how do you know it is a boy at 4 weeks?
Why are you looking at girl names?

I love your name!

I think she is figuring it will be a boy because she really WANTS a girl.  That is why she is looking at girl names.  I think she already has a boy name picked out too if I remember right.

That is how I read it anyway.  Please  correct me if I am wrong.

I really don't know, and Im afraid to guess. I always told my husband that even if I was told before I got pregnant that it would be a boy, I would still want another baby. I just always saw myself as having a big family. I would absolutly Love to have a little girl, But boys are so much fun as well. I guess Ive been hoping for a girl, since I was little. I have 5 brothers, and I wished them all (except my older brother of course) to be girls...lol

I really dont know what this one might be though. Ive decided to treat it as though it is a boy. If its a girl, then it will be a wonderful suprise....

Sienna how far along are you?

Andi:  Did you say his cousin's and best friend's wifes?  OH MY!  Do you see these siblings?  Has he calmed down with age?  Goodness, he was a busy little bee!!!
Blank
Avatar_n_tn
In an interesting twist of fate, he married another cousin's wife after he and my mom split. SO my oldest sister, was also my step cousin, lol! I didn't know she was my sister until I was in 6th grade. I have never met my oldest brother, the best friend's wife, as Monte always assumed it was his and no one wanted to rock the boat. I don't get along with my other sister, she is an alcoholic and I dealt with enough of that drama when Patti was alive : )

He slowed a little. I know of two affairs he has had on my step-mother. But she had one as well. One of his brought another friend into the picture...herpes! So he had to explain that one, but Janet still doesn't know about the other one.  It was karma coming back to get him. I know this is TMI, but at the age of 54 as a result of the herpes, he developed a mild form of penile cancer as a result of the herpes and intact foreskin and to treat where the problems were isolated, he had to get circumsized. Now tell a horny old toad like him not to get an erection for a week or he will be in extreme pain and it was a perfect punishment.

So, as far as whether or not he has settled down, I don't know for sure. I would hope so. Lucky for him in all those glory days that he didn't wind up with HIV. He had bragged to my mom when they first got together (she was 17, he was 26) that he thought he was sterile because he had slept with over 100 women and had never gotten on pg.

Some men are such pigs...

I think I may have dated a son he did not know he had.  I dated a guy one time that said that same thing, "I have slept with tons of girls and none have gotten pregnant"  This was his way of trying to convince me to have sex with him.  Not the best argument if you ask me, all I heard was, "I have slept with tons of girls and never used protection, so, I probably have AIDS."  Needless to say, we didnt go out after that!

I like Jasmine Leigh.  Then call her Jazzleigh.  I don't like Taelynne.  Teachers will have trouble with that and it will be hard for her to explain how to pronounce and spell.  Skyler reminds me of a soap opera, plus I know some kids with that name.  Whatever you decide is the best choice for you.  But, think of your little princess as well.

I love the Benjamin name.  Just curious why you chose traditional for the boys and will choose a non-traditional for a girl.  There are so many old-fashioned/traditional names for little girls that are not so common.  Either way, I wish you the best and I hope you have the girl you wish for.

I am pregnant with my third.  I have two boys and we just found out last Monday that we are having a little girl.  There is hope.  I just knew we were having a boy.

Good luck and let us know what you choose.

My name is kind of unusual...Kami....It was hard for some people to pronounce. However growing up, I loved it. Whenever someone said my name, i knew they were talking to me...or about me...i like the unusual names

My cousin was married to a guy like that, come to think of it, from the stories I have heard, my dad was that way back in the 70's, lol. I have 3 siblings born a year apart, none share the same mother, one was my mom's, one was his cousin's wife, and the third was his best friend's wife. Some men have no shame!!

I say don't let the door hit you where the Good Lord split ya. You and your children will be far better off without him.

Good luck!

my oh my oh my! aaahhh! men are so gross. although, i am sure that there are still some good ones out there. i am about 4 weeks. i found out i was pg the day after i found out that he was seeing other "women". he was a dirty ******* because he obviously did not use a condom with any of these women. i have been recently been diagnosed with a virus called HPV. (human papanaillou virus) which was the wonderful gift that he has given me. it is not life threatening and there is no cure for it. it is a form of herpes/warts, from what my doctor has told me and what i have read, but they are not in the genital area. they are in the uterua and cervix. it puts me at risk for cervical cancer and all that stuff. i already had an abnormal pap smear. after i went to the doctor and found out that i had contracted that from him, you know what he told me? 'oh, i got it from the toilet seat at work". gives me a disease, leaves me with 3 kids, won't give me a penny yet he thinks that he is just the "don juan" of the ladies! yuck!

Will that "gift" he gave you harm the baby at all?? Just curious....
Blank
Avatar_n_tn
My SIL has that.  She takes Valtrex and the virus goes dormant (I think).  I think if you have that and it is active when you are giving birth, you have to have a c section to prevent the baby from contracting it in the birth canal.  It can be very harmful to the baby if it is activly flaring up during the birth.
Blank
Avatar_n_tn
with a vaginal birth, there is a chance of the newborn, when passing thru the birth canal, can be exposed to the virus. but, i had a c-section with 2 year old nicholas and i will be getting another for this baby in may. the whole time i am here suffering with all this crapp to deal with he has this flippant attitude that he just does not care. oh well, i have kids to take care of and i will be rewarded in the long run, i am sure. have a nice night ladies, i will try to have one too. gotta go now, the sky is black here in chicago and the thunder is getting loud, don't wanna get caught in the rain and hail!

'till tommorrow.....
