I have been spottingVaginal bleeding between periods lightly on and off for 2 weeks now. My OB doctor (which today I made the decision to never see her again), was very cold and harsh today. After my second ultrasound, and the ultrasound tech telling me the sac has grown a lot since last week, and that it is quite normalNormal saline flush to not see a heartbeatHeart palpitations Ultrasound, normal fetus - heartbeat Ultrasound, ventricular septal defect - heartbeat at 6 weeks, my doctor gave me a vial and said if I lost any tissue to bring it in and have it analyzed. She said I may have a missed pregnancy, that there may not be a live embryoCea there, but I may. She was disturbingly insensitive and unexplanitory about the whole thing. I had a cone biopsy last year, a quite radical one, and I asked her if that could be the source of spottingVaginal bleeding between periods and she said no. I've heard you can experience some spottingVaginal bleeding between periods from the area of the surgery. Has anyone else experienced this or have any information about a missed pregnancy and how the yolk sac can still grow if you've had a missed pregnancy? I recall her saying how long the embryo was, so how could she think it's a missed pregnancy? It just isn't as big as she thought it should be. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I can tell you my experience- I was preg. and the first sonagram showed a sac- my blood leves were good also-then i went back to again and they could see the sac but it looked empty-i stopped my progestrone and waited my levels all dropped and i went in about 1 2 weeks late for a d & C- So what i am saying in my experience or knowledge- spotting is very noral in teh eary signs of being preg. and sometimes a really good sign that you really are preg. also i would request that you have your blood levels ck'd every other day and make sure that they are still going up-if you still feel preg. you very well stillcould be- be patiet and not in hurry to do anything- try to relax your mind and go RUN to aother doctor- where r u? maybe someone can recommend another to you NOW! Be encouraged my girlfeind had about a normal period her first month and was very PREG> usually u don't hear a heart beat for about 12-14 weeks i think- my prayers r u, Hugs, Denise
Definitly find another doctor. The age of the embryo could be off, and in these very early weeks it makes a lot of defference in the size and seeing the heartbeat. Spotting is normal this early in pregnancy. Most of the time it is nothing. Get a new doctor, I would not let her talk you into doing anything like d&c because you could have a good pregnancy, it could just be its too early to tell. Also what kind of u/s did she do? vaginal or on your tummy? vaginal is much more accurate.
Doc has done 2 vaginal ultrasounds. Last week you could barely see a thing, but the ultrasound tech said she was pretty sure she saw a sac. Today another vaginal ultrasound and the ultrasound showed the sac had grown a lot and you could even make out the embryo, just couldn't see a heartbeat. I should've been 5 weeks last week which would make me 6 weeks now. The spotting is very light pink to brown on and off. Thanks so much for your input - it's good to know there are others out there that are supportive and caring.
Definitely get another opinion, your doc shouldn't have left you hanging like this. I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I had a m/c 11 years ago, I don't remember much about it now except alot of bleeding. I think I was about 8 weeks or so. Anyway, go to another doc and please let us know how you do. Good luck.
Hi. Sorry to hear about your experience. I had a "missed abortion" (medical term) with my first pregnancy loss. As your dr called to it to you "missed pregnancy" means medically...your body has contained the pregnancy an not expelled the development that is happening inside of you. Usually, missed abortion are retained in utero for 8 wks or longer to be termed that.I was 14 wks when mine happened and the pregnancy stopped growing at 8 wks!! You can still have spotting but the not heavy bleeding/cramping. However, bleeding in early pregnancy is very common. You also can be not as far along as believed. What I was wondering and would ask your DR is...You can have a yolk sac and no embroy inside growing. Is that what they ment? That is referred to as a "blighted ovum" I also had one of those 2 yrs ago. There was no embroy or heartbeat. In this case i would have another u/s in week to see if anything continues to grow. It could just be slow growing!! You need to get to a DR that you can trust and be understanding of your needs and explain info as it is happening!! As for your cone biopsy that does not have any relation to what is happening except, it could come into effect later in pregnancy. When the cervix is.......
having the weight of the pregnancy pushing on it. It becomes incompetent an starts to dialate prior to term. In this case your provider will monitor the cervix and if neccesary do a "stitching up" of the cervix to prevent preterm labor. With all that said...I wish you well and hope everything works out for you and your husband. I am currently 17.4 wks pregnant after a long struggle with infertilty and m/c etc.. Please, find a provider you can trust and get your questions answered. I am a Cardiac RN with limited knowledge in maternal/newborn nursing from years ago. Most is from experience and the foundation from nursing. I hope this can help!
i can't believe i found this posting. i got pregnant after only 2 months of trying, i was hoping for a spring baby and thats what i got...or so i think. i called my DR the second i found out i was pregnant. we set up an appt for the following week to confirm and then we set up my first sonagram the week after. i had my '7 week' sonagram last friday. turns out the same thing happened to me. she saw a 5 week picture not a 7 week picture. i told her that based on my conception dates the most i could be was 5 weeks anyway. well she counseled me on miscarriages for 20 mins and even scared me into thinking i might be having an ectopic pregnancy. i went to a radiologist a few days later to have another sonagram. this time they saw more - they saw a yolk sack which is good. and my prenancy level has gone up, just not as high as they would have hoped apparently. i'm supposed to go have another sonagram tomorow (my first was last friday). i cancelled adn made the appt for next week instead. i can't take any more tests, waiting for results and then just hearing that they can't be sure. i figure if i wait another full week they should see something. if they don't - then we know there is defintitely a problem. i see this posting is from june - how are you?
