the use of progesterone

my MD has given me progesterone to use - i have just had iui done - and i'm to start using the progesterone today- i have 12 days of the progesterone- the question i have is do  i use the progestreone for 12 days? i was told to insert after intercourse- do i still insert if i do not have intercourse??

I don't know about how they do it with IUI, but with IVF, you take the progesterone every day whether you have sex or not.

Progesterone has nothing to do with intercourse.  It sends a signal to your body not to start AF.  Typically your corpus luteum will produce progesterone but if not enough is produce you can miscarry.  Progesterone supplements prevent that.
