u/s at 8weeks irregular heartbeat or old u/s machine?

by chantal21, Sep 19, 2007 03:02PM
Hi. My name is Chantal.  My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant since early this year. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant. This is my third pregnancy. I have been able to get pregnant with no problem but the other 2 ended in miscarriage. One at 5 weeks the other at 10weeks. I just had an u/s at 8 weeks 1 day. The doctor told me the everything seems fine except the heart beat. They could not measure it accurately. He said it varied from 82bpm to 186bpm. Why is this? Was it too early, was the machine old, or are vaginal scans more accurate this early? I had a vaginal scan with my last pregnancy at 7 weeks and the heart rate was a steady 130 bpm. I am very confused/scared/concerned. Has this happened to anyone else? Any input would help me! Thanks!

Could be that they are picking up yout heartbeat as well which would cause such a dramatic difference.

Ahh, I can't believe I didn't think about that. That is so true. Thank you so much. I will try to worry about it. I know that worrying is the worst thing I could do.
