vaginal birth after cesarean

Is VBAC considered safe for a 30 year old female with 5 pregnancies, where the last pregnancy was a cesarean section & what are the risks?

I think at any age a VBAC is considered safe as long as you have not had more than one c section in a row. I had an emergency c section with my first and had a sucessfully induced Vbac with my second and was even able to deliver the twins vaginally first head down and second was breech. You have to talk through it with your doc for your circumstances. The risks I was told were as long as the placenta had not implanted near the scar tissue as it is more likely to rupture and other than that I was also told to rembember that if you did end up needing a c section after labour begins it will be an emergency one which will be harder for recovery time. Me personally I would never have a volentary c section it was not worth the pain I much preferred natural. I think as long as your other births went well your doc should at least be will to try for a VBAC. Good Luck

I had an emergency c section with my 1st child, who weighed 8lbs15oz, and my dr said she always recommends a c section to follow after that.  She told me "it's fairly uncommon to have a negative outcome when trying a VBAC, but when it's bad it's REALLY BAD."  No thank you.  I've had 2 c sections (both were giant babies anyway) and it is worth it to know that mom and baby will both be healthy.
