Some people use dreft for babies since it doesn't have any dyes or perfumes to irritate babies sensitive skin.  I couldn't use dreft since I have a front loader machine.  They say only use HE liquids.  So I used Tide Free.  It worked great!  It has no dyes and is perfume free too.  I do know some people who use regular old soap and they don't have a problem.  I wanted to use something that would be gentle because I have senstive skin too.  Hope that helped. :)

Oh, I always used liquid, just liked it better.

I don't think there's any better or worse when comparing liquid versus powder.  It's totally a personal preference.

You should choose a detergent that is made for sensitive skin, be that Dreft or Baby All, etc.  I personally have always used Dreft up until a couple weeks ago for my 2 year old, and will use Dreft for this baby too.

I use a phosphate free, unscented, dye free store brand.  I am in Canada so they may not have the brand where you are.  I use it for everyone's clothes as I sneeze when I am near scented anything.

Some of the detergents like dreft keep clothes fire resestant also.  That is why I always use it for my baby clothes.  and they are less likley to have a allergy to the ingredence of detergents made for babies.
