weight gain

I am in my 21st week and I have only gained about six pounds.  I am worried that I am not gaining enough.  My eating habits have changed a lot as I have cut out all junk food and eat mostly fruit and veggies now.  Also I am drinking a lot more water.  How much weight has everyone else gained?  Do you think this is a problem?

The normal weight gain would be 2 to 3 pounds per month but if the ultrasound looks okay, I am sure baby and you are just fine. Until I was 5 months, it seemed that I was just gaining in front and losing on legs, arms, buttocks. So the overall gain per month was barely 2 pounds. But I caught up later to a totla of 25 pounds and my boy was a 9-pounder. Sometimes a fetus can just drain you and still get all they need.

I am almost 20 weeks and still no weight gain.  I was 10 lbs overweight at the start so I am not worried.  I gained 20 lbs with my first and 32 with my second.  I gain my weight in the 3rd trimester.

I am 27 weeks and have gained 30 pounds.  I weighed 115 before I got pregnant so my doctor said he isnt concerned that I have gained 30 pounds, but I am because I still have three months left!

hi i'm nearly 34 weeks and i've put on 17 pounds and it seems to have stopped there too, just at the time when i thought i was supposed to be piling it on.  Were you overweight to begin with.  I was 195 pounds to start with and i think thats why i haven't put on too much weight (which is fine by me lol)  The baby is happy and healthy so far, so maybe you should mention it at your next appontment and if they seem unconcerned i wouldn't worry :)

I am overweight and started out at 170 lbs.  At my last appointment the nurse seemed concerned which bothered me but when I asked my doctor he said my ultrasound was great and the baby is gaining the appropriate amount of weight so not to worry.  I am just so paranoid this pregnancy cause i lost the last one so every little thing bothers me.  I am feeling better because i did some research and it says if you are overweight you only need to gain between 15 and 25 pounds.    I will mention it to my doctor again but i think i'm fine.  thanks for responding.

I did the same thing w/my first pregnancy.  I weighed 114 at 5'6", and weighed almost 180 when I delivered.  Try not to do that to yourself....I was miserable, and it is very difficult for your body to gain so much weight in such a short time.  Recovering from the pregnancy wasn't easy, but after a few years, I managed.  Good luck!  I'm not trying to criticize you, just wished I had some guidance when I was going through it.  Of course, my Dr. said I was fine....I started out 'under' weight.  Take care :0)

yeah mine says it is fine since I was "underweight" to begin with.  I just dont want to struggle with loosing the weight.  I try to watch what I eat but I guess I am not doing to good.  How long did it take you to loose the weight?  Did you breast feed?

I did breastfeed until my daughter was about 7 and 1/2 months old, and I was PREGNANT again.  My milk dried up, and I was really careful to not allow myself the 'license to eat', like I had before.  I was still about 25 lbs overweight when I got pregnant.  I got very sick w/my son, and threw up constantly for the first 16 weeks, which caused me to lose about 15 lbs.  He was born on time at 7.2, and perfect.  I breastfed him until he turned 1.  I weighed about 160 when he was born.

As soon as my son was born, I waited the 6 weeks, and joined the YMCA.
I worked my butt off in aerobic classes, and still am (almost 4 years later).
I soon got down to 124, with A LOT of effort!  I am now pg w/ my third, 13weeks, and weigh 128.

I just always thought that I was eating for two, and I LOVE to eat.
I have realized that the second person I was eating for only weighed a few ounces, and then pounds!!!

Good luck to you!!!!!!  It can be soooo difficult!  Take care ;0)
