will follicles be ready??

by kellibug, Apr 08, 2006 12:00AM
I took clomid (50mg 2nd round) this past Monday-Friday. I go in Monday to have a Vaginal u/s to check my follicle size, if large enough I will get a Hcg shot to trigger the release of the egg. Does anyone know if Mon. is too soon? i just dont want to have to go back another day if its not big enough. My fertility clinic is over a hour away. And does anyone know side effects of the hcg shot?

I have been through 5 round Clomid and HCG shots, I have never had any side affects. I think you normally take the meds CD 5-9 or CD 3-7 and then come in the clinc on CD 12 and if the follicles are arround 18 mm (2cm) then they will give  you shot at CD 12 night and then 36 hours later to do the IUI or having sex on  your own.

I went through 2 rounds of 150mg of clomid and the hcg shot to trigger ovulation for an IUI.  As far as the follicles goes, you'll have to wait and see, mine usually weren't ready until day 12 and had my IUI on day 14.  As far as the shot goes I didn't have any side affects from it, you body thinks its the LH hormone, the only thing you might feel is from ovulation.  Good luck, I hope it works for you!

I have never had fetility treatments but have read about them. What CD will you be on Monday? It sounds a bit early but as I said I've never had treatments. You should express your concerns to your doctor and I'm sure he/she will be able to answer these questions. Good luck and lots of baby dust********************
