yeast infection

by debmejia, Jul 12, 2006 12:00AM
I'm six weeks pregnant today and noticed that i feel like i have a yeast infection. I was wondering if the over the counter medication is safe to use. I was thinking of calling doctor for that pill they have out now but wasn't sure if it was safe to take. Any advice would be appreciated this is driving me nuts.

Definitely call your doctor when you're pregnant. IF nothing else, they will want to monitor the yeast infection too, but they say to always run that stuff by your doctor, even if you've had several yeast infections in your life and have always gottne over the counter medications. I hope it goes away quickly. and Congrats on your new pregnancy.

I would definetly get the pill from your doctor to clear the invection.

There is a pill they can prescribe, which is only 1 pill, and it clears it right up.

Hi, I had an yeast inf at 6 weeks too and the doctor said that I shouldn't have any pills, because I'm pregnant and the first weeks any medication should be avoided, because the baby's organs get ready to develope. So, my doctor prescribed me local healing. He gave me some kind of cream, which is for vaginal use only. Try to contact your doctor and don't take any pills. When they found the yeast inf didn't they prescribed you sth?

I am not sure how safe the pill is, but I telephoned my midwife and she suggested over the counter canestan cream.
dont worry a yeast infection is easily treated, mine took a little longer than usual but it hasnt come back.

Antifungal meds are generally not prescribed during pregnancy.  You are better off using a topical cream at this point.  You may also want to look into taking probiotics.

I got the pill for a yeast infection from my doctor, but I might have been further along.

Mine said Monistat 7 and Terazol 7 are ok during pregnancy.

First make sure you have a yeast infection and not a bacterial infection.  If you don't have any discharge and only irritation and ichiness then you can use Vagisil on the outside and feel better otherwise call your doc before using anything else.
