I went to my doctor and she said it could be because I'm pregnant (not sure what she called it - something like POBS), it could be an allergic

Transfusion reaction to something I always have other symptoms and never a rash. It seemed like the rash was getting better until the other day (2 days after I misscarried) the rash got extremely worse again. I mentioned to my OB when I had the misscarriage about the rash over my entire body and he didn't think anything of it. Can you tell me anything about this Fifths Disease and how I find out if I have the virus. I have all the symptoms. Please help. I need to know if this is what caused my misscarriage.
Dear Sue:
If a woman has miscarried, is not having symptoms, and the bleeding stops, the miscarriage is likely "complete" and no dilation and curettage (D and C) is required.
Fifth's disease is an infection caused by the parvovirus. It is associated with miscarriage in a minority of the ladies who experience the disease. The diagnosis is suggested by finding a high level of parvovirus-specific antibody in blood and a decline in the titre over time (so called paired blood serum testing).
Several viral infections can cause a red rash. Often we never know the causative agent.
