Abdominal pressure

by Beth__0, Jan 05, 1999 12:00AM

I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my fifth child.  I've been experiencing abdominal pressure - lower pelvic area.  In addition to this, I've had a thick discharge.  I will be seeing my ob in two days but wondering if it is something that should cause me concern.
Dear Beth:
Pressure in midpregnancy is common and increases as muscle tone is lax due to prior pregnancies. Equally, a thick discharge during pregnancy can be normal.
A physician visit is needed to evaluate "how low you are carrying", whether there is any change in the cervix, and whether the discharge is "physiologic" or infection such as yeast.
