Are these things harmful during pregnancy?

by Elizabeth__0, Nov 25, 1998 12:00AM

I think that I might be pg but it's too soon to test. I have some questions that I have been unable to find in any pregnancy book.
  1. Are cough drops safe?
  2. Is dandruff shampoo ( over the counter, Head and Shoulders) safe?
  3. Is nutrasweet safe, like in diet pepsi?
Thanks for any input or advice!   Elizabeth
Dear Elizabeth:
I am not aware of any concerns with over-th-counter cough drops or dandruff treatment shampoos.
Nutrasweet is also safe: some years ago, there were concerns linking artificial sweetners to a variety of medical conditions based on feeding huge quantities to test animals. These data have not help up under closer scrutiny.
Keywords: food additives, pregancy.
