CAN PRENATAL VITAMINS PROMPT LACTATION?

by SHELIE, Jan 27, 1999 12:00AM

CAN TAKING PRENATAL VITAMINS PROMOTE LACTATION?
Dear shellie:
Prenatal vitamins do not cause lactation. Some women develop breast secretion (colostrum) early in pregnancy and continue this secretion until the milk comes in on the second postpartum day. Women who have lactated in the past may experience lactation randomly outside of pregnancy and throughout all of subsequent pregnancies.
Keywrods: lactation, vitamins
