Cramping after suspected O

by Melanie-TC1, Mar 30, 1999 12:00AM

Based on the norms I O'd Mar 23 or 24.  Started having minor lower abdomenal (abdominal)
cramps Mar 25 that ran through Mar 28.  The cramps intensified Mar 28th.
No cramping on Mar 29 but began having tender lower abdomen.
We are hoping that we conceived and are wondering if these sensations are
normal or indicate something that we should be concerned about.
Thanks for any info you can offer.  Melanie

Dear Melanie
It is not uncommon to have lower abdominal cramping at midcycle. In fact the well known term "mittelschmerz" is used to describe this clinical scenario. Traditionally this has been thought to be due to lower abdominal (peritoneal) irritation from the actual ovulation event.
Your symptoms are well within the range of normal. Good luck in your attempt at pregnancy!
