How long does the uterus takes to heel after a D&C? Is it possible that the walls of my uters is heeling together? I was told everything was fine at my post-op. Thank you for your help
Dear Tina:
The uterus usually heals with one menstrual cycle. Intrauterine adhesions (the walls healing together) is a painless process and results in light menstrual periods.
Following any surgery, the sussequent menstrual cycle may be disturbed in length and bleeding pattern. Disturbed bleeding can be totally painless or very disturbing. If the uterus and/or ovaries are more sensitive due to the temporary cycle irregularity, than may contribue to discomfort during intercourse.
If the symptoms do not clear with your next menstrual flow, followup with your physician is appropriate.
