Fetal Movement

by Julie__0, Jan 12, 1999 12:00AM

  Hello
I am 20wks pregnant. I have felt fetal movement. There for a while I was
feeling it everyday but for the past 5 days I have felt nothing.  I called
my Dr. and they said it was normal and I have read in the books that this is
normal too. My question I guess is When should I be worried about not
  feeling any movement?
  Thanks for your help
  Julie

Hi Julie.
To be reassured about the baby, fetal heart tones can be done.  If you are a Henry Ford patient, we can check these for you any time.  It is important to focus on the movement.  Best time to feel it is after a meal, lying on your  left side.  The movements at this point in a pregnancy can be light flutters to strong kicks.  The quality of the movement is not as important as the sensation of movement.
