Hi
I posted last week about slow rising HCG levels. My level at 16 dpo was
27 then a
littleLittle noses decongestant
Little tummys less than 48 hours was 37. I had some very light
spottingVaginal bleeding between periods the next day. I had another HCG done and an ultrasound.
My HCG was 91 and the ultrasound showed nothing in the ovaries or tubes and possibly something(it was too soon to tell?) in the uterus. Also the light
spottingVaginal bleeding between periods stopped after a day and 1/2 (It was really light brown
spottingVaginal bleeding between periods)
I don't have another HCG scheduled.... does the rise seem to have made up for the 'nonrise' a few days earlier. Is this something that happens early on in the pregnancy?

Dear Patty:
An hCG level
doublesDouble-tussin dm approximately every 2 days: there is a wide range of increase between a low of 1.67 and a high of 2.33. The rise is not straight line: like the growth of children, there can be days of
rapidRapid shallow breathing growth and slower growth.
You do not tell me the time between the values of 27 and 91: this is a clear rise and that is reassuring.
An ultrasound study is not helpful in most patients until the hCG level rises above 1500 mIU/ml with the most sensitive of ultrasound machines and greater than 2500 mIU/ml with average quality machines. Some old machines will not detect the pregnancy until the level is 5000 or even 6000 mIU/ml.
