HPT and faint lines

HPT and faint lines

Posted by tinster on April 26, 1999 at 13:21:37
I stopped taking birth control pills in November but used a barrier method until March.   In March I began spotting on the 16th and my actual flow started on the 21st.  I used an ovulation prediction kit in April which showed positive on the 6th.  On 4/18 and 4/19 I had very light bleeding, not even enough to use a tampon.  On the 21st I did a HPT and it showed a very faint line.  I took one again today and the line is still very faint.  I have very tender, enlarged breasts, occasional nausea, frequent urination, and mood swings.  My question is:  Shouldn't the line on the pregnancy test be getting darker with rising HcG levels?  The OB/GYNs in this area don't want to see you until you are 8 to 10 weeks.  Should I ask them to do a blood test to check my levels or am I just worrying about nothing?
Thank you so much for your information.

Dear Tinster:
The intensity of color is determined by the concentration of hCG and the kit regents.
You have symptoms of pregnancy and an uncertain home pregnancy test. Speak with your physician's office regarding a pregnancy test by them.
