HPT

by Kely__0, Mar 24, 1999 12:00AM

I think I am pregnant, but since I am exclusively breastfeeding I don't know how long. I think I must be at least three months because I have been feeling something and I was watching my stomach move like I used to do with my daughter.
This morning I took a HPT and it came back neg. I think I may have a slight UTI and I don't know if that has any effect on it.
Also, how accurate are HPTs when you are farter along? Thanks.

Dear Kelly:
If you are exclusively breast feeding and menses have not returned, it is low likelihood that you are pregnant with a negative pregnancy test.
Fetal movement is not appreciated by most women until 4-5 months into pregnancy and is not visible on the abdominal surface until 6-7 months into pregnancy.
A clinical examination would detect an advanced pregnancy test. Urine pregnancy tests remain positive throughout pregnancy.
