My husband and I are ready for children. So, after 10+ years on the pill, I went off it on January 10th. Approx. 14 days later I ovulated -- I feel fairly certain of this since I was very tender in the

He prescribed Progesterine which I was to take for 10 days. He said that should "jump start" my cycle. He said I should get my period within 2 days to 2 weeks of completing the prescription. I took the pills and on day 9 began to bleed, before even completing the prescription. This continued for 4-5 days. Was that my period or was that possibly "break through bleeding"? It's been almost 2 weeks since I finished the prescription and I have had no further bleeding. I don't know whether to call my doctor or wait to see if a

Bleeding in response to progesterone is variable ( It also depends whether or when you ovulate ) I would interpret the bleeding pattern you describe as being your period and wait for the resumption of your
normalNormal saline flush menstrual cycle. I would recommend that you contact your physcian and see how he would like you to follow up.. A typical approach would be to wait another 2-3 months and then give another progesterone withdrawal if there had not been a period. But this really is worked out on an individual basis depending on the individuals medical history and situation.
