Missed Period After Depo

Missed Period After Depo

I had one shot of Depo in May and decided not to continue taking the shot. I am currently not on any form of birth control but am wanting to start on the Pill. My doctor prescribed be Proveria (10mg)so I would start my period. My question is--When I take the Proveria is that going to make it where I could get pregnant very easily? could you explain how the proveria affects by body?
Dear MFreeland:
Following DepoProvera, the average time for return of fertility is 5 months and some patients take longer for menses to return. thus, November is 6 months from May and very close to the average time when periods should have resumed.
Provera is the short-acting, oral component of Depo-Provera. It is given to test whether your body has resumed making estrogen because it has cleared all of the Depo-Provera. If it has, the Provera will change the uterine lining into a form that will bleed away.
Provera does not make one fertile: it simply causes the uterine lining to shed. Rarely, following Provera, a patient will ovulate. Whether this is due to the Provera is just change because they were about to ovulate anyway is unclear.
Keywrods: DepoProvera, return of menses
