Pregnancy likely?

by Christy__0, Dec 15, 1998 12:00AM

I discontinued the pill 8 months ago and got my periods back very heavily and very regular (28 days).  Before I took the pill I was quite irregular, but rarely skipped one.  I was on the pill for 6 years.  But now I am at least 1 month late and my last period stopped abruptly after only 3 days.  Usually it lasts 6-7 days.  I took a urine pregnany test 1 week ago and it was negative.  My husband and I faithfully use condoms.  Am I likely to be pregnant?  I also have some other health problems due to possible hypercoagulability of my blood and I tale 650mg aspirin daily.  Thank you for your response!
Dear Christy:
A change in menstrual flow or menstrual pattern after discontinuing birth control pills are not uncommon: the pill mask the changes that were destined to occur.
When one is one month late, a pregnancy test is reliable. If a lady misses 3 consecutive menstrual flows without pregnancy, medical evaluation is recommended.
