Dear ANA:
LH and FSH are the pituitary gland (master gland) hormones that stimulate the testes to make hormones and sperms. The levels are normal. Testosterone is the male hormone produced in the testes: the level is normal. Prolactin is a hormone produced in the pituitary gland: we do not knows its function in men and in women it stimulates milk production after delivery. The normal range is usually below 20: 113 is an usual value.
Prolactin can be elevated by several things: the pain of blood drawing; a high sugar food; time of day; low thyroid hormone production.
The value requires further study and this should be done by the physician treating your infertility if he/she is a reproductive endocrinologist, by a medical endocrinologist, an internist, or a urologist with interest in male fertility.
If you do not have access to these persons, the Sommerset Reproductive Center or the Department of Endocrinology at Henry Ford Hospital can be consulted.
