Can implantation bleeding be really red, heavy and last for the legnth of a period?
This may vary from woman to woman
If so, does it occur when the period should occur?
This would occur at the time the egg is implanting into the uterus, after it has been fertilized and has traveld through the fallopian tube.

How many women have implantation bleeding?
????
If a woman is on the pill, will this affect hpt's?
Should not, for it detects the HCG hormone.
If on the pill, will she miss her period or will she just spot?
Usually a period is just missed.
Do women normally miss their first period or do they bleed and then miss their second period when pregnant?>
The first period after conception.
Last question: How do women tell how far along they are -- from their last normal period or the date of conception?
You count from the first day of your last period.
If from their last period, then do we really date fetuses as 2 weeks older than they really are?
Actual conception usually occurs about 2 weeks after the start of your last period. I am assuming this is where those 2 weeks end up.
Ex:  If a woman is two weeks late, does that mean she is actually 6 weeks pregnant?
This actually depends on when the woman ovulated(not all women are on a 28 day cycle).
