According to conception date, I am(?) 4 weeks pregnant Dr. places me at 7 weeks using his method of calculation).  2 days after a blood serum confirmed that I was pregnant, I began to have light spotting (bright red).  I went to ER and my HCG level was tested and was 84.  I was told to go to bed until Dr.'s appt. 2 days following and did so.  While I stayed in bed, the spotting slowed and I had a few very mild cramps.(nothing compared to my normal periods.)  When I went to my Dr. this morning, he again tested my HCG level.   The results came back at 84 again.  The Dr. told me he believed I had miscarried and wanted to test again in 2 days time.  If I have already miscarried, why isn't there more blood, more pain, and the loss of the fetal material?

________
Generally early in pregnancy the Bhcg doubles approximately every two days. A la ck of doubling plus cramping and some bleeding is suspicious for a miscarriage.  Repeating the HCG and possibly an ultrasound to check for retained tissue may be needed.
