My five months old baby, has just started with solids, previously he was eating only soya formula, but recently he looks constipated, he strain too much and to ofen, could this be related to his new diet, should I give him something special, your help will be appreciated.

Dear SM,
Any time anyone changes their diet it can affect their bowel movements. So yes, the introduction of solids into your child diet can affect his bowel movements. If you are giving rice cereal you can try an oat cereal. Rice does seem to cause constipation is some kids. You can also try adding, as Tracy said, some juice to your son's diet or baby fruits. When you add juice   don't give more than 4-6 ounces. Juice does fill up children but does not give them the high calories they need.  Fruits that strart with the letter P help prevent constipation, such as, prunes, plums, and pears. Hppe this helps.
Also, when introducing solids you should only introduce one new type of food every 3-5 days,  in case of an allergic reaction.
