I have read in the forum and elsewhere that the pill makes your periods lighter because it reduces the endometrium, but everything I've read seems to suggest that it's usually after you've been on it a while. I was prescribed the pill last month, and the period I had was very, very light. Is this common?

Hi,
I typically have light periods to begin with . . . 2 - 3 days at the most.  When I was on the pill, they practically disappeared!  They lasted a half day and I only had to use panty liners.  My cycles also got extremely weird on the pill . . . 18 days, 35 days, 22 days, 30 days, etc.  I was on the pill for only a year, so I didn't agressivly pursue these questions with my doctors and they kept saying, "let's wait and see if your body settles down."  It never did!  I was grateful to get off the pill and now after a year of trying to get pregnant, I'm realizing that maybe I never needed to be on it to begin with!!
Smiles,
Vickie
