Me and my husband want a child. My periods have always been irregular..like I had mine in April then never had one till august and havent had one since. Is it still possible to become pregnant with irregular periods?
Dear Shell:
Irregular periods often mean that a woman is not ovulating (releasing the egg from the ovary). With a menstrual period every 4 months, even if you are ovulating, the number of opportunities per year to conceive is reduced from 12 or 13 down to 4; furthermore, you do not know when these ovulations might happen to assure that you are having relations that insures sperm will encounter the egg as it is released.
Investigations to understand if you are ovulating and if there are causes for non-ovulation are avilable. Fertility drugs are usually very helpful.
Keywords: fertility, irregular menses

Are there any medications I could take to regulate my period?
