i have been getting yeast infections every two or three months for almost a year now. i have been told this can be indicative of more serious problems. what kind of problems? and what can i do to get rid of these infections? Hi, I also had female problems which I thought were yeast infections.  I
had symptoms off and on for over a year.  The medications the doctors gave
me and the ones I bought over the counter seemed to help but soon I was
having symptoms again.  Go to your doctor and request that he check you for
BV-bacterial vaginosis.  That's what I had and after taking my antibiotics
I felt like a new women.  Anyway the reason the doctors never suspected it
was because I did not have all the symptoms.  The doctor did an examination
and she said I did not have a fishy odor which is usually present but she
took a smear and examined it under the microscope.  Hope this helps.
