I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area or not - but here goes.  The first day of my last period was 57 days ago.  I have irregular periods, but the longest it's ever been has been 37 days.  I took two home pregnancy tests and they both came out negative.  How reliable are these tests?  Can they be wrong?  It has been an awfully long time, and I don't even "feel" my period coming.  Please respond.
TIA

Dear TG:
Home pregnancy tests are very reliable. In women who have irregular menstrual periods, ovulation is either infrequent or absent. Without ovulation, there is nothing to "time" the length of the menstrual cycle and some women will go many months between flows.
Since you are now almost one month beyond the longest time you have previously gone without a menstrual flow, it is time to contact your physician.
This information is provided for general purposes only and is not a medical consultation. If you have specific questions, Please contact your physician.
