Scar Tissue on Newborn

I have a six month old baby boy.  I never noticed anything at birth, but when he was about a month old, we noticed a pea size bump on the left side on the top of his forehead.  He has an excellent pediatrician, and he thought that it was most likely a dermoid cyst.  He said that we would continually monitor the size and growth of it to determine if and when it would need to be removed.  Since that time, the bump has not grown at all, but it has not shrunk, either, like the pediatrician said that cysts sometimes do.  When I took my son for his six month checkup a few weeks ago, the pediatrician said that since the bump still had not shrunk, that it should be removed so that it would not put pressure on the bone underneath.  He ordered a cat scan, which was done two days ago.  The purpose of this was to determine if the cyst was on the surface, or if it was in the bone, in which case a specialist in Calgary would have to perform the operation.
The cat scan was done twice - once awake and once with my son sedated, so that a better picture could be taken.  The cat scan did not reveal anything.  There was no cyst, no tumor, no misformed bones.  The skull and the brain were perfectly normal.  They injected dye to outline areas better, and marked the bump so that it would show up better, but it is something entirely on the outside of his head.  There is nothing on the bone, nor in the fat between the bone and the skin.  The doctor who analyzed the cat scan said that if he showed the results to nine other doctors, they would all say that it was perfectly normal, and wouldn't know anything was up unless they actually say my baby with the bump on his head.
This doctor suggested that perhaps the bump is scar tissue from the birthing process.  I didn't have an especially easy or hard birth - I have two other children, and I would say that his birth was easier that one and harder than the other.  But I had a lot of false labor for the entire month before he was born - very strong contractions, and a lot of pressure.  Is it possible that this could have somehow formed the scar tissue?
I just don't really understand how a baby ends up with scar tissue during the birthing process.  Do you think this is a valid possible explanation? Could you please explain this to me?  He showed no bruising when he was born, and his head was nicely shaped right from the start.  I am stumped for an explanation.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
