Should I Be Worried?

My lmp was 4/14/99.  According to my calculations, I should have ovulated between 4/25 –4/29.  My husband and I had intercourse on 4/25, 27 & 28 & 30.  My period is due on 5/13.  On 5/4 (around 6pm), I was at work and I felt strange so I went to the bathroom.  I was bleeding and it was like my period had begun (it was a bright red).  When I awoke the next morning, it was gone as if I had never bled.  Again, according to my calculations, it was only 20 days since my last period.  I am usually 29 days.  I went to see my GYN and I explained everything to her.  I have never stained or spotted before a period.  Also, I am frequently urinating and slightly nauseous.  She did a pap smear, another vaginal test and urine test.  She said she didn’t see anything, i.e., polyps, but did notice a thin discharge.  I should’ve asked her what that meant.  So, what does that mean?  Am I pregnant? Did I miscarry?  Or am I imagining things.

Dear Elizabet:
Bleeding about one week after ovulation can be the implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterine lining. such bleeding can be bright red and of short duration. A miscarriage would not be detected at this time of the cycle.
A thin, watery discharge without any other symptoms is likely normal cervical-vaginal secretion.
If your menstrual flow should have begun on 5/13, then anytime after 5/16, 3 days beyond the expected flow, a pregnancy test is reliable.
