Spotting/Clotting on the 20-22 day of cycle

For the past three months I have had a problem that I am very worried about. I get a bloated feeling, with strong cramps/contractions, followed by pasing small red clots. This has occured on the 20-22 day of my cycle. I do get a period around the 28th day.
Someone told that this is the begining of ovarian cancer. I had a vag. ultrasound done last week and it was noted that I have a folicular cyst on each ovary and a 3cm fibroid tumor.
Can someone ease my mind a bit.
Thank You!

Dear Michele:
Ovarian cancer does not cause bleeding in the second half of the menstrual cycle. A follicle cyst on an ovary is common, represents the normal working of the ovary, and raises no concerns. The otherwise normal appearance of the ovary is also reassuring regarding ovarian cancer. An ultrasound can detect ovarian cancer which has grown to a size that is recognizaeable. The appearance does not exclude that someday you could get ovarian disease, but at least today, there is nothing to find.
Uterine fibroids can be a cause of bleeding during the menstrual cycle.
